We believe every child is unique, and we want to provide an environment that nurtures and grows with them and their personalities. We want to help them develop into the leaders of tomorrow through creativity, passion, and kindness. The arts are a place where we can all come together.

BEHIND LUMI

The heart of Lumi is all about finding your light. In theatre, this phrase has special meaning—it's about positioning yourself where you can truly shine, both literally under the stage lights and figuratively in life.

When I close my eyes, I dream of that magical moment under the bright stage lights—a safe haven that whisks you away from the everyday world into a place of pure creativity and possibility.

Why "Lumi"?

Lumi comes from "luminaries," which means people who inspire and influence others. That's exactly what we do in theatre! We inspire audiences through storytelling and bring characters to life that touch hearts and spark imagination.

Fun fact: "Luminaries" is also a European term for stage lanterns—those brilliant lights that illuminate every performance.

At Lumi, we create a space where students discover their unique light and learn to step confidently into it, whether they're on stage or navigating life's everyday adventures.

CLASSES OVERVIEW

ACTING

Acting is the art of storytelling. The ability to take direction, to work as a team, to act individually, to learn lines/directions and to have confidence in being in front of an audience will be taught. Improvisation/ad-libbing, imaginary play and creative storytelling will be experienced.

"You should feel a flow of joy because you are alive. Your body will feel full of life. That is what you must give from the stage. Your life. No less. That is art: to give all you have." - Anton Chekhov

VOICE

Key elements of singing include; breathing, phonation, resonation and articulation. Songs in a musical are what brings the storytelling to life at moments when emotions are heightened and can no longer be expressed in only words. Musical theatre singers are widely trained and versatile singers, trained in vocal styles from rock (RENT), contemporary (Dear Evan Hansen) to classical (Phantom of the Opera).

"Unless you learn how to be in your head, you'll never learn how to create." - Lin-Manuel Miranda.

DANCE

Theatre dance is learning how movement of the body can express feelings, emotions and story telling. Having proper technique rooted in ballet, jazz, tap and hip hop creates the musical theatre style.

“Human beings are born with the instinct to express themselves through movement.” - Bob Fosse
