+ What is a Musical Theatre School?

Musical theatre is a dynamic form of performance that blends acting, singing, and dancing into one exciting art form. From classics like The Sound of Music and Annie to modern hits like Hairspray, musical theatre tells stories in a way that’s larger than life! At Lumi, students train in **all three core elements—acting, voice, and dance—**to become confident, well-rounded performers ready to shine on stage.

+ What kind of classes does Lumi offer?

At Lumi, we provide a wide range of classes and performance opportunities for students ages 3 through adult. Our programs include:

  • Summer camps
  • Full-scale musical productions Whether you’re stepping on stage for the first time or preparing for advanced training, Lumi offers a place to learn, grow, and shine!

+ How does tuition work?

Lumi’s classes follow a school-year calendar, with our main 36-week session running September through May.

  • Monthly Tuition Tuition is due on the 1st of each month. A one-time registration fee is due at enrollment: $30 per student or $45 per family. Classes are billed month-to-month, and you may unenroll at any time. To stop tuition, the studio must be notified via email by the 15th of the prior month.
  • Summer Camps At enrollment, a deposit is required. The remaining balance is due on the 1st of the month the camp takes place.
  • Productions Our productions are separate from regular classes. A deposit is due at enrollment, and tuition/payment details can be found in each Production Packet (see the Productions tab on our website for more information).
  • Masterclasses, Workshops & Mini Series These special training opportunities are offered throughout the year. Tuition is due on the 1st of the month the class is scheduled.

+ How do I get started?

Getting started at Lumi is easy!

  • Register Online: Use our convenient Jackrabbit Parent Portal to browse classes and sign up.
  • Need Help with Class Placement? We’re happy to guide you! Email us at info@lumischoolofmusicaltheatre.com or contact our office with any questions.

+ When do classes start and end?

  • South Charlotte: Our 2025/26 Session runs September 8, 2025 – May 23, 2026.
  • Fort Mill: Our Grand Opening Session begins January 5, 2026 – May 23, 2026.

+ What is the dress code?

We ask that all students come dressed to move so they can get the most out of class!

  • Acting & Musical Theatre: Comfortable clothing that allows for movement.
  • Musical Theatre Dance: Leotards and tights or workout wear. Ballet or jazz shoes are required, and tap shoes for tap portions.
  • Musical Theatre Classes (non-dance): Clothes you can move in and clean, closed-toe shoes.
  • 🚫 No socks or Crocs, please!

+ Lumi's Class Policies

At Lumi, we are committed to creating a safe, positive, and welcoming environment for all of our students and families. We ask that both students and parents show kindness and support toward one another.

  • No Phones or smart watches in Class: Student phones/watches are not allowed during class. This ensures that students can stay fully present, focused, and comfortable while learning—without distractions or fear of being recorded or shared on social media.
  • Respectful Behavior: Students are expected to respect their teachers and peers at all times. If a student is disruptive or unkind, they may be asked to leave class, and parents will be contacted.
  • Zero Tolerance for Violence: Any physical aggression toward another student or staff member may result in removal from the studio. Re-enrollment would only be considered with special approval.

Our goal is to make Lumi a place where every child feels safe, encouraged, and excited to learn!

+ How do I enroll in a production?

Our spring and fall production classes are exclusively for students currently enrolled in classes or lessons at Lumi. Regular class time is essential for students to develop the skills, technique, and discipline needed to excel in rehearsals and performances.

+ 25/26 Session Closed Dates (Holidays)

  • South Charlotte: Session begins Sept. 8th through May 23rd. Thanksgiving - November 24th to 28th Winter Break - December 22nd to January 3rd Spring break - April 4th to 11th Session ends May 23rd, 2026
  • Fort Mill Grand Opening Session January 5th through May 23rd Spring Break - April 4th to 10th

Lumi holds classes on all other holidays during the school year.
